The Best Buddies program will give Youth Council volunteers an opportunity for a one-to-one friendship with young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

We will have monthly programs at various locations.   You will be helping these young adults live meaningful lives within mainstream society.

When people have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities they sometimes have an absence of social skills because they have not had the opportunity to have friends outside of their own environment.   Best Buddies introduces socialization opportunities for these young adults so they can become more independent and, consequently, more included in the community.

This one-to-one friendship is the foundation that helps human beings become successful.   Without love, support and friends our lives would be empty.   Youth Council volunteers will change lives by simply sharing their time with a new friend.   You will give them a chance to explore a new way of life.
